Orthodox Easter 2009

2009-04-18 | Tonight, Orthodox Christian Churches will begin Celebration of Easter Sunday, the Feast of the Resurrection, Pascha, the defining moment in Christianity.

Orthodox Christianity observes the Julian Calendar for religious festivals, while Roman Catholics, Protestants and others use the more dominant Gregorian. Pascha, the Feast of the Resurrection commemorates the Sunday when Christ rose from the dead, on the third day of His trial, torture and execution by the worldly authorities of the time - and the acquiescence of everyone else. In so doing, we were shown that there is no real “Death” for those who obey GOD and that there is no need to fear the “powers” of this world.
